On Monday, August 6, 1945, the nuclear bomb “Little Boy” was dropped on
Throughout history nuclear weapons have been used very sparingly and have proven to be very useful to prevent us from perishing. The incident at Hiroshima was necessary because without it, the Japanese would not have surrendered and we that might have cost the lives of more soldiers who must fight them. Someone who does not prove themselves to be useful to the world has a life that is meaningless, so if they died, it would mean nothing. Since the Japanese were attacking and only making this world into a place full of chaos, they are not useful to us and if they died, then there would be no harm done. I’m not to say that all of the Japanese want to attack us, but sacrifices must be made for the world to improve.
Nuclear technology doesn’t just have to be used as a weapon, in fact, we can harness this energy to power our cities. All over the world, there are nuclear power plants set up to help people go on with their daily lives. You might argue that we could use renewable energy sources to power our cities so we won’t harm the environment, but those technologies are not reliable. The clouds could block out the sun and prevent solar panels from working, the wind might not be strong enough for wind turbines to be working, and hydro power plants might be accidently flooded and cost lost more money to fix or rebuild. The only downfall to using nuclear power plants is that they produce radioactive waste, but other power sources such as burning coal also produce waste, yet we still use them.
Nuclear technology is not just made up of horrific explosions, but it helps us improve ourselves to have a brighter future.
